Trim Levels
The BMW X5 has four trim levels: sDrive35i, xDrive35i, xDrive40e iPerformance, and xDrive50i. All trim levels come standard with power-folding heated side mirrors, a roof spoiler with a center brake light, and a panoramic moon roof with fully automatic glass panels. The entry-level model has matte black roof rails and chrome exhaust tips, while upper trim levels have satin aluminum roof rails and silver matte exhaust tips.

Color options include Imperial Blue Metallic, Pearl Silver Metallic, Carbon Black Metallic, and Alpine White.
Engine
There are three different engines available. The first two trim levels have a 3.0-liter BMW Twin Power Turbo engine, providing 300 horsepower and a maximum torque of 300 pound-feet.

The xDrive40e iPerformance has a 2.0-liter Turbo engine that combines an electric motor with a twin-scroll turbocharger, providing a total of 308 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. The eDrive button has four modes that let you choose how much electric power to use with each trip.

The xDrive50i has a 4.4-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo V-8 32-valve engine that provides 445 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
All four models have precise handling. This is especially true for the three upper trim levels, which have all-wheel drive instead of rear-wheel drive like the sDrive35i. The xDrive50i takes it even further with the Dynamic Performance control, which helps to distribute power in the rear axle.

Each vehicle has an ECO PRO mode that, according to BMW, can reduce fuel consumption by up to 20 percent. The estimated EPA is 21 mpg combined for the base model, 20 mpg combined for the xDrive35i, and 17 mpg combined for the xDrive50i. The EPA differs for the xDrive40e, with an estimated 56 mpg combined when using both electric and gas and 24 mpg combined when using just gas.
Interior
Standard features for all trim levels include poplar wood trim, privacy glass, automatic climate control, and a BMW Navigation System with a 10.2-inch screen and Voice command system. The sDrive35i and xDrive35i models have black SensaTec upholstery, while the two upper trim levels have Dakota Leather upholstery.

There are various add-on packages available, such as the Premium Package that comes with the Wi-Fi Hotspot, and the Ivory White or Mocha Interior Design Packages.
Safety Features
Every vehicle comes standard with support services like Stolen Vehicle Recovery and Enhanced Automatic Collision Notification. The Remote Door unlock feature comes in handy should you ever lock your keys inside the vehicle, and there's an SOS button that you can press when you need emergency assistance.

Other safety features include the Rollover Sensor, Adaptive Brake Lights, and an Impact Sensor that automatically disconnects the fuel pump and starter from the battery in the event of a collision.
