2020 M340i vs 2019 Audi S4 vs 2019 C43 AMG

Which performance car outperforms?

Dare to compare!!

How does BMW’s new M340i, the first-ever M Performance 3 Series, compare to the Mercedes-AMG C43 and the Audi S4? Well you are about to find out! As the brand makes clear, BMW has presented a leader in the new M340i version, poised to take the segment truly by storm! Considered the most powerful 3-Series version that BMW has ever built before, the M340i has features that will clearly stand out when you dare to compare!! But it is important to note that all three performances machines are not quite their perspective brand’s true performance division. But each car performs, but which one outperforms?

Power packed!
The M340i’s power is thanks to a turbocharged 3.0-liter straight six, putting out an impressive 374 PS (368 HP) to pair with its 369 lb.-ft. (500 Nm) of torque. If that isn’t enough, the vehicle is presented with rear-wheel drive or an xDrive all-wheel drive system.

When it comes to speed, however, the three cars are all fairly similar. The 2019 Mercedes-AMG C43 has the most power with 390 PS (384 HP) on tap, while the S4has 359 PS (354 HP) of its own. The BMW accelerates from 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, while the Audi needs an extra 0.2 seconds and the Mercedes another 0.4 seconds.

Considered the classic all-weather sports sedan, the S4 is down on power.

Modern touch/appeal
The M340i is also considered more modern compared to the C43 and the S4, boasting an exterior design that is the latest version of the saloon. It is presented with a longer wheelbase than its predecessor and sharper character lies, somewhat similar to the latest 5-Series. Style though is clearly found in the Mercedes, which features a new grille, sportier-looking front end and rear bumpers, as well as enhanced aero elements, trunk lid spoiler, larger wheels, side skirts and a wide array of sporty interior mods.

The Audi S4 is considered the most visually subdued when compared to the other models, despite its beefier front spoiler, larger wheels and quad exhausts.

Each vehicle is appealing, though, when it comes to interior designs. But, when compared, the cabin quality of the BMW excels over Mercedes, although the S4 may come in second.

Similar technology
Those who want the best in technology are wise to consider features both common and uncommon in these three models. All three vehicles share the digital gauge cluster, which the C-Class had as part of it only recently. But when it comes to on-board technology, the 3 Series definitely stands out. It is also quite clear that the BMW and the Mercedes boast much better-looking paddle shifters, where the S4’s seems barely visible.

More facts to consider….

The M340i gets a bunch more power and extra cylinders and comes with M goodies as standard. Those include M sport differential, lower ride height, optional M suspension and more! Power is at your disposal immediately in this comfortable car which is a breeze on the highway and chock full of creature comforts, including lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control, among others.

The Mercedes C43, has a twin turbo V6 and boasts a refreshingly charismatic engine, with more horsepower for 2019. It provides cruising comfort with an explosion on the upshift. In short, it is a fun drive through and through, with an engine that pulls well and excellent front end grip. With a new grille and new bumper, and optional wood trim inside with nice stitching throughout, it is sharp and stylish without a doubt.

The S4 has only one available power train but comes in a few different trims. It has Audi’s quatro all-wheel-drive system as standard. It is down on power compared to the others, but is no slouch. It is featured in bright turbo blue, and there is no doubt that it is a fantastic looking car although not as adventurous in design. Audi, known for sleek looking cars that are not super athletic, brings forth a staple in the brand, easy steering, great headroom and a competent performance vehicle.

Take the time to compare these performance vehicles and see which one outperforms. When it comes to power, quality and an overall amazing experience each and every time you get behind the wheel, BMW stands above — and alone. Dare to compare!!
