That’s just a sample of what to expect in a 2018 BMW X5 M. It’s like getting the best present ever that comes all wrapped up in one complete package.

Interior

A sumptuous interior provides passengers with more than enough room to get comfortable and enjoy the ride. Seats are designed with support in mind with 18-way multifunction power front bucket seats, thigh and upper backrest support, headrest, and four-way lumbar support. The five-seater features heated leather seats, rear bench seating, auto climate control, and a power liftgate.

For the driver, the cockpit is high-tech, detailed, and laid out in a convenient display pattern where all gauges, screens, buttons, and knobs are clearly defined and easily accessed. The tilt and telescopic steering wheel come equipped with paddle shifters and audio and cruise controls. 

Exterior

The exterior is elegant yet bold in its design with its signature kidney-shaped grille, imposing LED headlights, distinctive rear bumper, and molded hood and side panels. Sitting atop double spoke 21-inch alloy wheels, the X5 M draws attention wherever it travels.

Optional features include 21-inch M Double-Spoke black wheels, 20-inch Double-Spoke light alloy wheels, an array of color choices, and roof rails in satin aluminum.

Performance

“Impressive” doesn’t do this SUV justice. The X5 M is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 engine featuring Valvetronic and TwinPower Turbo technology, has 32 valves, produces 553 lb-ft of torque at 2,200 revolutions per minute (rpm), pumps out 567 horsepower at 6,000 rpm, and can hit 60 miles per hour in just 4.0 seconds.

The X5 handles the road with superior gripping stability by relying on its all-wheel-drive (AWD) system that works in unison with its front and rear axles. The BMW’s Dynamic Performance Control balances the torque evenly providing a smooth and powerful driving and touring experience, while the eight-speed automatic transmission gives the X5 M the smooth operability expected from a BMW.

Fuel economy for the X4 M is 14 miles per gallon in the city and 19 miles per gallon on the highway for a combined gas mileage of 16 MPG.

Infotainment

Staying connected and being tuned-in when traveling around town or on an over-the-road excursion is important and the X5 won’t let you down. The SUV is equipped with USB inputs, Bluetooth technology, auxiliary audio inputs, a trip computer, 16 total speakers, two subwoofers, satellite radio, and a navigation system.

Safety

The BMW X5 M has a long list of features to ensure a safe driving experience. Just a few include assistance from a backup camera and parking sensors, and when driving, the X5 M is equipped with an automatic emergency braking system. The X5 is also equipped with rear airbags and side-mounted airbags, child seat anchors, rear door child safety locks, dusk-sensing and daylight running lights, and a post-collision safety system.
