Small but mighty!

Caught on video is the exciting new 2025 BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe, the compact sedan which first made its mark in 2019! Updated in so many wonderful ways and due next year as a 2025 model, the 2-Series will make its debut alongside an updated version of the related 1-Series hatchback to be sold overseas. Boasting the latest version of the BMW Group’s FAAR platform designed for front-wheel drive cars, this new model is sure to be presented with numerous changes!

Here’s more…

What we know!

Although heavily camouflaged, unveiled is a new design that is both aggressive and a stand out, mainly made clear in the headlights and an optioned illuminated grille, as well as a front fascia which features a more horizontal theme and is sharper. That is thanks to what appears to be 5-Series-inspired headlights. At rear, the taillight signature will also be new heading into the 2025 model year and the fascia will exhibit a more clean design. Four exhaust pipes are also found at the back, with the next-gen 2 Series continuing to be underpinned by a front-wheel-drive platform with an available AWD on certain trim levels in combination with certain engines.

This model, which also includes upgraded brakes and more lightweight products than before, is expected to ride on 18-inch wheels as standard, with 19-inchers presented as an available option.

A peek inside reveals a more modern dash design than what is found in the related 2-Series Active Tourer sold overseas, as well as a larger infotainment screen and new center console. This console will feature additional controls, including a small nub for changing gears as opposed to the traditional upright lever.

In the area of powertrain, not much is yet revealed, but more power is anticipated, especially for the range-topping M235i thats current 2.0-liter turbo-4 pumps out 301 hp. For the 2 Series, it is possible that will bump to a whopping 312 hp, which matches the output the same engine makes in the related X1 M35i crossover that arrived for this model year. The 2-Series Gran Coupe is also available in the U.S. in a 228i grade whose 2.0-liter turbo-4 makes 228 hp.

It is also expected that a plug-in hybrid powertrain may also join the lineup as there are no plans yet revealed for a 2-Series Gran Coupe EV.

This next-gen model, currently in development with production planned in November, is known internally as the F74, with the brand’s smallest sedan ready to pack a punch!

Other facts!

Spotted in California, this practical sedan will be made until October, 2030, aiming to be a more affordable premium car from BMW.

The prototype seen appears to be the M235i, but the name may get simplified to just M235, a change that speaks to BMW’s new strategy aimed at making model names clearer.

While a full M version is not expected due to the front-wheel-drive setup, the automaker stands behind its promise that the M Performance models can still pack a punch, offering a great driving experience!

When it comes to that performance, the 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is expected to have two distinct models for the U.S. market – the 228 xDrive and the M235 xDrive.

The M235 will feature an updated engine in the form of a B48, and the compact sedan will have a dual-clutch automatic transmission for smooth gear changes and power delivery. The top-level M235 will also include paddle shifters for manual control and an adaptive M suspension for top handling and ride quality, as well as a spoiler, and unique interior and exterior trims. Presented as options will be active seats, special and unique interior lighting, lit-up front grilles and driver-assist features found in recent lower-end BMWs.

With wonderful updates both inside and out and with performance and handling to match, the 2-Series Gran Coupe just may be your next best choice in 2025! See what small but mighty has in store!
