Latest news: the future is now!

As the auto industry makes a giant pivot toward electrification, BMW is undoubtedly at the forefront. That is made clear in the 2025 BMW X3, sure to break new ground! Sleek and modern in its design and boasting cutting-edge technology, this best-selling SUV is sure to not only meet any and all needs of today’s driver with its plug-in and EV options, but to offer a clear glimpse into the future!

Here’s more.…

What we know so far!

This series is being built on two distinct platforms. Those include the combustion-powered and plug-in hybrid X3s, which will ride on the CLAR platform and is codenamed G45, with the all-electric variant, the iX3 — codenamed the NA5 — embracing the NEUE KLASSE platform.

A different design philosophy is found here — evolutionarily to say the least — with the NA5 all-electric variant of the X3 expected to be presented with clean lines and a minimalist design both inside and out! The overall look is modern, which is of great appeal to many drivers and passengers alike! Drivers can anticipate more assertively sculpted bumpers, with design revisions influenced by the third-generation BMW X1. Overall, the look, including sleek, swept-back headlamps and a provision for a taller kidney grille, exude confidence through and through!

There are also flush-fitting for handles on the plug-in hybrid, as well as a charging port securely located under a flap on the front left side wall.

Varying and unique levels of technology is also on tap inside the NEUE KLASSE-base models, while traditional design can be found with the G45 X3. That is because of its focus on both combustion and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

What is poised to really turn heads on the G45 X3 for 2025 is a completely redesigned dashboard with curved dual-screen display, which serves as the focal point of the vehicle and its cutting-edge infotainment set up. This dual-screen display is sleek, and divided into two halves, with each half dedicated to specific functions. The latest and greatest iDrive system within the G45 is also notable and represents BMW’s latest iDrive 9 system which utilizes the Android

Automative OS.

This next-gen infotainment system, called the BMW Panoramic Vision, will boast cutting-edge advancements in the area of connectivity, navigation, entertainment and more.

A wide range of drivetrains are also found within the new X3, with the G45 including the X3 20, X3 20d or X3 30 for gasoline models and the X3 30 e plug-in hybrids. The top model will be the 2025 BMW X3 M50, which will get its power from an updated B58 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine which boasts 382 hp or more with both the M40 and M50 planned to use full hybridization.

A base model is likely to have something similar to the mild-hybrid, which could be the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine found in the recently revealed X1 M35i, making 312 hp.

A couple of choices when it comes to battery packs are expected with the NA5 BMW iX3, with all NEUE KLASSE models using the GEN6 battery technology. This will most likely be presented with 20 percent more energy density than the current tech and 30 percent greater range, for about 621 miles. This new battery technology will also be built into the chassis through the use of “pack-to-chassis” design.

Expected launch for the G45 BMW X3, planned for the Spartanburg Plant, is the summer of 2024, with the NA5 BMW X3 set to be released a year later at the new plant in Debrecen, Hungary. The NEUE KLASSE will most likely begin being produced at the San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico.

Overall, the X3 for 2025 is poised to be slightly larger than the outgoing version. Headlights are slimmer on certain X3 prototypes, although the kidney grille will be larger. The shape is considered more chiseled.

When it comes to price, it is hard to determine that at this point, but a slight increase over the current version is likely. That translates into about $50,000 for the base model, with the current X3 sDrive30i starting at $47,195, the M40i costing $61,995 and the X3M at $75,395.

At $50,000, the X3 for 2025 will be in line and priced competitively with current alternatives.

It is expected that the new X3 will be more premium than the current model, including such features as Standard Comfort Access, which is passive keyless entry, Iconic Glow exterior and more sophisticated interior materials. A sporty X3 M50i variant will boast M Sport suspension, distinctive wheels and M parts as standard. Optional will be an adaptive suspension.

Get set for the U.S. launch of the next-gen 2025 BMW X3, which can happen as soon as the second half of 2024. It is important to note, however, that BMW has not yet confirmed the plug-in hybrid variant for the United States. More refined, luxurious and boasting premium features, the X3 for 2025 has it all! Poised to compete with the likes of Lexus RX 450 h+, Audi Q5 TFSI e and the Volvo XC60 Recharge, the X3 is the latest and greatest! The future is surely now!
