What we know!
Starting at $499,775, nearly six figures and $33,100 more than the regular 2025 M2’s base price, the M2 CS comes to us without the manual version, with the most performance-oriented M2 equipped with an eight-speed automatic. This takes the CS, or Competition Sport, right to the top, making it the ultimate M2 with the best acceleration and lap times.
Under hood, the 3.0-liter inline-six makes 523 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. That represents a bump of 50 more ponies and 36 more lb-ft of torque than the standard M2 and 79 hp more than the previous-generation M2 CS. BMW claims an impressive 3.7 seconds jumping from 0-60 mph. The engine itself is home to a wide array of motorsport tech, including rigid crankcase, forged crank and iron-coated cylinder bores. When it comes to brakes in stopping this powerhouse, the CS gets red calipers as standard, with the option of carbon ceramics.
This vehicle is also light, with the CS featuring a carbon-fiber roof, trunk lid, mirror caps and the rear diffuser. Up front, air passages are optimized to flow more air into the radiators. It comes in at 3,770 pounds, which represents a near 100-pound reduction from before. For those looking for an even lighter option, carbon-ceramic brakes are an added $8,500.
A look within the M2 CS reveals carbon racing-style seats and various interior trim bits, as well as multiple CS logos throughout. The vehicle also sits 8 mm lower than the regular M2, with BMW giving the springs, dampers, and chassis control systems a bespoke tune.
To accommodate its higher power and lower weight, BMW M has increased its spring stiffness and retuned the adaptive dampers, electric locking differential, ABS and traction/stability control systems.
On the exterior is a magnificent ducktail spoiler, adding to its all-out sportiness, with production poised to begin at BMW’s San Luis Potosi, Mexico, plant this August. Deliveries are planned for a short time after.
There is no fuel economy info for the 2026 M2 yet, but the 2025 model earned ratings of 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway, with either manual or automatic transmission.
In the area of tech, the M2 features the latest and greatest iDrive infotainment software brought forth via a 12.3-inch display behind the steering wheel that serves as a reconfigurable gauge cluster and seamlessly transitions to a 14.9-inch touchscreen. Navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also standard, with a head-up display and G connectivity both optional.
Basic driver-assistance features are also found within the M2, including automated emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.
With power and torque going to the rear wheels only, intensity is surely amped up in this CS, which is a perfect mix of modern civility and traditional intuitive driving dynamics. In fact, if performance and track days are what motorists desire, then this is your next best choice. The most powerful rear-wheel M that is lighter and featuring more enhancements than ever before is yours for the asking. Back to ‘great,’ – you bet! Reserve yours today!
