What we know!
In this new model year, BMW has updated the design and expanded the range of the iX, even adding a new lower-level xDrive45 and significantly improving the newly minted xDrive60 and M70 xDrive models.
But since power and performance is a huge consideration for many motorists, it is important to note that the new lower-priced entry model comes with a lower power figure compared to last year’s xDrive50 that came with a pair of electric motors that combined for 516 horsepower. In this next model year, the new xDrive45 makes 402 horsepower, which results in an acceleration time from 0-60 mph of 4.9 seconds.
With the new xDrive60, that horsepower churns 536, while the top of the lineup M70 gets a pump in power, generating 650 horsepower. In this case, BMW estimated the newer model will hit 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds.
Since the drivetrain has been optimized for better efficiency, the IX’s range has also changed – by a 10 percent increase to be exact. This is due to the company’s use of silicon carbide semiconductors on the refreshed model and a new generation of batteries.
The new IX also features larger batteries, with the automaker estimating that the base model is good for 312 miles of range on a single charge, with the xDrive 60 estimated at 340 miles and the M70 302 miles.
When it comes to looks, it is important to note what is a slightly revised appearance for 2026. That is made clear in a more simpler designed grille, less busy than those on previous models and featuring more toned–down lines. The headlights have also been updated, replacing the thin horizontal runners with a pair of vertical beams for a more angled, diagonal design feature. In addition, both the front and rear aprons now feature more of the actual paintwork, resulting in less clutter from other contrasting design elements.
Those buyers opting for M70 or M Sport Package on the lesser models, will see the rear end with an integrated diffuser as well as all the goodies included as standard equipment. That
includes the air suspension and rear-wheel steering, with only two options: the $2,550 Driving Assistance Professional Package and the $1,000 Executive Package.
An available M Sport Professional Package adds dark Shadowline head- and taillight trim, and is presented as standard on the M70 xDrive. That model is presented with an M-specific grille, black mirror caps and standard 21-inch wheels.
The iX boasts new paint colors, including Arctic Race Blue metallic, Dune Grey metallic, Carbon Black metallic, and Tanzanite Blue Metallic. For the two lower trims, motorists have the option of upgrading to the BMW Individual Exterior Line Titanium Bronze design. In addition, all trims can upgrade to 21, 22 or even 23-inch wheels through the M Sport and M Sport Professional packages. All of the new wheel designs feature metal inserts to aid in decreasing drag while improving efficiency.
Within the cabin, newly upgraded M-branded seats are found and now standard on the M70 and optional on the lower trims, as well as an M leather steering wheel, M pedals and a two-tone instrument panel. A Climate Comfort Package is also now standard on the M70 and optional lower, using heated surfaces to create comfort for occupants.
Also standard on the xDrive60 and M70 models is a sleek Panoramic Eclipsing Roof, while optional on the xDrive45 is electrochromatic shading. Those opting for the M70 also enjoy the sounds of the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System as standard, presented as optional on other trims.
Starting at $76,325 including designation, the new iX xDrive 45 is yours for the asking, while the xDrive60 comes in at a starting price of $89,625 and the M70 for $112,625.
