While there are no significant changes expected for 2026, in the area of power, the X3 relies on a 255-hp 2.0-liter turbo-four for motivation, while the M50, a real performer, employs a 393-hp 3.0-liter turbo inline-six for a genuine BMW experience. Both of these engines utilize a 48-volt hybrid system and are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Standard is all-wheel drive with three drive modes – Personal, Efficient and Sport – offered, each provided to tailor responses to the driver’s individual needs. There is also an optional trailer hitch which allows the X3 to tow up to 4,850 pounds.
With the engines come great acceleration, with the 393-hp M50 jumping to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds. There has not yet been testing for the xDrive30, although the automaker is claiming a 6.0-second 60 mph time. In the area of speed, the X3 tops out at 130 mph and the xDrive M50 at 155 mph when equipped with performance tires.
Inside, style abounds, as does ample space, in specific 10 percent more rear room than the outgoing model, providing even the rear passengers with enough. The cabin features as standard equipment new heated and ventilated power-adjustable sport seats with three available color choices when it comes to the faux-leather upholstery. Those wanting even more style choices can select an optional faux leather and faux suede combo as well as genuine leather. Making its first use on any BMW product is a woven fabric instrument panel made from recycled polyester. With the seats up, the X3 offers 32 cubic feet. Looking back, the X3 for 2025 was even larger than its predecessor, with a length of 187.2 inches and a width of 75.6 inches, meaning more cargo space that every motorist desires!
Drivers are connected in every sense of the word, thanks to BMW’s latest iDrive 9 infotainment system, which happens to debut in the X3. In this case, the iDrive rotary knob remains in place. With the overall system, it accepts inputs via the touchscreen, steering wheel controls and voice commands. Buyers also have the option of a head-up display. Adding to the tech perks is also BMW Digital Premium, which allows for video streaming and gaming options, but only when the vehicle is stopped. Spotify and Amazon Music also are offered in the X3’s list of audio streaming services.
Safety is at the forefront of the X3, with a plethora of driver-assistance features, with only the basics offered as standard. Key features include standard automated emergency braking with forward-collision warning, standard lane-departure warning and available adaptive cruise control.
Depending on trim and options, this vehicle lands at around $52,000 for a starting price and can swell to about $66,000. A limited warranty is common, covering 4 years or 50,000 miles, as is a powertrain warranty covering 4 years or 50,000 miles. Complimentary scheduled maintenance is covered for 3 years or 36,000 miles.
