What we know!

When it comes to the i4 M60, far from the old i4 M50, BMW has definitely turned up the heat! To that end, it has amped up its dual-motor setup to a whopping 593 horsepower, 56 hp more than before, with the torque remaining unchanged at 586 lb-ft. It is powered by a 200 kW BMW M eDrive electric motor, representing the latest generation. Compared to the previous M50, which was speedy itself, this new model manages to shave off the 0-62 mph sprint to an impressive 3.7 seconds. Its top speed remains electronically limited to 140 mph. This Gran Coupe will assuredly deliver captivating performance while achieving a range of up to 551 kilometres.

High intensity driving pleasure is undoubtedly found here, with the i4 featuring among its key attributes a Flache Slim high-voltage battery with a maximum energy feed of 205 kW, M specific design elements, fascinating driving dynamics due to the electric BMW xDrive, and the list goes on! The i4 M60 also boasts a bespoke Adaptive M suspension with individually configured springs and dampers, specially designed anti-roll bars and an additional spring strut tower brace in the front end.

Add to that variable sport steering with Servotronic, and direct and agile steering – with less physical effort – is surely realized. An M Sport brake with four-piston fixed calipers at the front and single-piston floating calipers at the rear in Blue metallic with the M logo and large brake discs ensure all-out superb braking performance.

A sporty character is also presented, linked to design elements like newly structured LED units in the headlights and rear lights with laser technology. M interior trim ‘Carbon Fibre’ is also presented, as well as sleek exterior colors like Frozen Pure Grey metallic

Those wishing to have an M60 in their driveways need to act now. That is because news of this potential upgrade of such a popular performance EV dates back to December, 2024. Its arrival is not only official, with this new model packing the same electric punch as the i5 M60 with nearly 600 horsepower, but this new vehicle has much to boast about. At Goodwood, those attributes were made clear, beginning with 19-inch 859 M wheels that could be sized up and down.

We also do know that this electric sibling of the 4 Series Gran Coupe will continue production until June 2028, which means there are two and a half years until the order book closes. Also, with the arrival of an electric 3 Series Sedan next year, the long-term outlook for the i4 remains unclear and not terribly promising.

In terms of cost, the automaker lists the i4 M60 on its German website starting at 72,900. Add to that many conceivable options, and that price tag jumps easily to six figures.

Production begins for the European market this month, and the U.S. version will follow at a later date, expected for the 2026 model year.

With a name change, more horsepower, and outstanding dynamics and handling, the i4 M60 is your next best choice. With its recent public debut and more electric muscle than ever before, the need for speed is here and now!
