2017 BMW M2 | Dave Walter BMW | Akron, OHThe M2 is one of the smallest luxury cars from BMW, and one of the most fun to drive. It sits right above the M235i coupe in the lineup, and even though it is only in its second year, it already has a reputation for delivering all the things drivers love about the M series. For 2017, BMW added a Wi-Fi hot spot to the Executive Package, and they improved the Bluetooth and USB function. Here are some reasons to love the  2017 BMW M2.

The Look

The M2  is a two-door coupe with room for four passengers. It uses the shell of the 2-Series, with a wider track, and it comes with 19-inch alloy wheels and xenon headlights. The front end features the twin-kidney grille, and down the sides, the flared fenders accommodate the wide tires and the M axles. It only comes in one trim level, but there is an optional Executive Package and the M Driver’s Package.

The Engine

One of the reasons to love the 2017 M2 is the 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder engine that powers this little car. It generates 365 horsepower and 343 pound-feet of torque, and because the car is light, it accelerates and moves quickly. Rear-wheel drive is standard along with a six-speed manual transmission with rev-matching for downshifts, but you can opt for a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. With the automatic transmission, this little car will go from zero to sixty in just 4.1 seconds.

The Interior

The M2’s cabin features bolstered seats and tri-color stitching with M logo’s throughout. The driver enjoys a good seating position, and BMW  geared the layout toward the driver. A large 8.8-inch display is easy to reach and comes with BMW’s infotainment system with crisp graphics, navigation, and Bluetooth for phone and audio. There is also a 12-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system, satellite radio, and it has a USB port. Add the Executive Package for a wireless charging pad and a Wi-Fi hotspot, and you can add Apple CarPlay as a stand-alone option.

The Safety Features

The M2 comes with traction and stability control and the usual suite of airbags. Add the Executive package for a rearview camera and rear parking sensors along with automatic high beams. You’ll also get a forward collision warning system with mitigation as part of this package along with lane departure warning.

The M Driving Package

The M Driving Package is an excellent reason to love the 2017 M2. Not only does this increase the speed of the engine to 168 miles per hour, but it also gives new owners a day of driving instruction. They can head to one of BMW’s Performance Centers and learn how to make the most of their power and speed.

There are a lot of reasons to love the 2017 BMW M2. Even though it is an entry-level luxury vehicle, BMW designed it with drivers in mind. The powerful engine and responsive steering create a fun ride whether you are on a straight highway or a back road with lots of winding curves.
