Akron Art Museum

The Akron Art Museum is a delight for all ages. It is open Tuesday-Sunday and features an eclectic assortment of fine art in a variety of mediums. Visitors will see examples of current artist’s work, touring exhibitions, and pieces of artwork from the museum’s extensive permanent collection while strolling through the modern architecture of the museum.

While visiting, take a moment to view the many contemporary items in the Museum Shop and enjoy fresh pastries, sandwiches, soup, and assorted beverages at the museum’s cafe. In a beautifully detailed outdoor space, enjoy the Bud and Susie Rogers Garden, which is open to the public and free of charge during scheduled hours every day. 

Akron Fossils & Science Center

The Akron Fossils & Science Center is an educational and interactive way to spend the day learning about science, the planet, and working with pieces of the past to understand the world today and into the future. Visitors experience a hands-on tour with engaging activities throughout the center and at Truassic Park, which has 2.5 acres of entertainment including a nine-hole mini golf course.

From educational science classes and lectures to interacting with live animals or enjoying one the center’s summer camps, the center is an all-in-one adventure destination. Off-season hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays only. Regular season hours are Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  1. J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall

Located at The University of Akron, the E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall offers its visitors a wide variety of entertainment. Enjoy Grammy-award winning performances by artists like violinist Augustin Hadelich and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the University of Akron Dance Company, the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, the Verb Ballet, and Branford Marsalis. Aside from these great offerings, they also showcase piano and big band concerts and live Broadway musicals. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Concert is a favorite.

Thomas French Fine Art

A smorgasbord of visual delights from the palettes of renowned artists awaits your pleasure at the Thomas French Fine Art gallery in Fairlawn just 12 minutes from Akron. Those who enjoy the beauty, detail, and creativity of fine artwork have may choices to peruse. The gallery features paintings, fine prints, photography, Japanese prints, three-dimensional art, drawings, and on-going exhibitions. Visit Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or call for an appointment.
