Design overhaul! 

A characterful new design marks 2023, complete with an eye-catching look and feel! From large kidney grilles and angular surfaces, as well as large black plastic cladding, the new design is all things bold! Longer, wider and taller than before, boasting a longer wheelbase, this vehicle gives its all when it comes to space for driver and passenger alike. 2023 is also when the largest range of exterior paint options is unveiled, including both metallic and non-metallic options in shades of blue, black, and white. Among these bold and eye-catching new exterior hues are Blue Bay Lagoon, Cape York Green, Utah Orange, Space Silver and BMW Individual Frozen Pure Grey. 

The bold new front design includes standard full LED headlights offering efficient and abundant illumination, as well as a wider stance and longer wheelbase. There is also up to 20-inch wheels offered, giving this SAV even more presence than before! 

Power packed! 

The all-new X1 once again comes equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine and all-wheel-drive, although some revisions to the powertrain are presented. Instead of the conventional eight-speed automatic transmission, the X1 for 2023 now utilizes a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic unit. This new transmission is sure to provide smooth, quick gear changes, while optimizing shifts to route topography. The engine itself uses the Miller cycle and produces 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This updated powertrain in its third generation means that the X1 competes now with the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, Volvo XC40, the Lexus UX and other entry-level luxury models. This is truly big power in a small package! 

Standard in this model is an intelligent all-wheel drive system, with the X1 automatically distributing power when needed between the wheels for top control in adverse driving conditions. 

What’s inside! 

A new curved display, appearing for the first time on the X1, and stylist, upscale finishes are among the notable features inside and boasts touch-focused interaction design which beautifully incorporates a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.7-inch central infotainment screen. An ample amount of equipment comes standard inside, including navigation, a power tailgate and several driver-assistance features. 

Other options inside as part of an XLine design package, which is a premium package, are heated seats and a heated steering wheel. Drivers also have the option to add available Sports Seats with SensaTec upholstery which bring both a new level of comfort and support. 

Overall, this is a modern design found within made clear with the floating center console and ergonomic controls. Add to that an available Panoramic Moonroof and the sky’s the limit — literally! 

Major tech boost! 

The area of technology is one in which the new X1 sees a great deal of improvement in the form of a major upgrade. As part of the vehicle’s standard equipment, the BMW Curved Display, which consists of a digital instrument cluster and central infotainment screen, is presented. This cluster and screen is combined into one large, impressive unit which extends across the dashboard. The instrument cluster measures 10.3 inches, while the infotainment screen is a whopping 10.7 inches. On this infotainment, BMW’s latest-generation software with an enhance voice-activated personal assistant is run. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, with a head-up display presented as optional. 

Other cool tech features include a light show which greets drivers as they approach their vehicle, and a new overhead interior camera which allows drivers to check if they have left anything behind inside their car. Augmented reality navigation shows a video on the car’s display along with animated arrows that are integrated into the image to assist drivers in knowing where to turn. 

Safety first! 

There are a plethora of safety features that make this X1 for 2023 an experience rooted in confidence and assurance. From active Blind Spot Detection and Lane Departure Warning to Frontal Collision Warning With City Collision Mitigation and automatic high beams, BMW has you covered and keeps you one step ahead! A new exit warning feature aids in preventing the driver from opening the door and hitting an approaching vehicle or cyclist. Optional is BMW’s Driving Assistant Professional, which combines stop-and-go adaptive cruise control with steering assist. An automated park assist feature is also available on this all-new X1.

The new X1 has a starting price of $39,595, including destination. That price is up from the base 2022 X1 with FWD by $3,200 and up $1,200 from last year’s model with AWD.
