This wagon is America bound — fingers crossed!

The news is exciting when it comes to the BMW M5 Touring, which could be coming to America by 2025 — and with 715 hp! The G99 M5 Touring is in fact being brought back to the market so hopefully the path continues to America! The wagon’s impressive horsepower is derived from its 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged ‘S68’ V8 engine and electric motor. With all-wheel-drive and some type of electric range, it is expected that the Touring will reach speeds of 60 in under three seconds! See what this hybrid performance wagon that seats five has in store — thanks to a sneak peek!

What we know thus far!

BMW recently confirmed that the new M5 Touring is in the works, and it represents the third following the E34 M5 Touring of the late 1980s/early 1990s, which came with a 3.8-liter I-6 that produced 340 hp, and E60 M5 Touring of the 2000s.

It is aimed at performance fans with a penchant for electric power.

The prototype is poised to start being tested in public soon with a debut set in stone for 2024, the same time the new M5 sedan will be unveiled.

When it comes to looks, the signature M features are sure to be incorporated! Those include pumped-up fenders, quad exhaust tips and a large wheel and brake package which makes its “Touring” label clear!

BMW launched its first M3 Touring a year ago, and it is expected that the M5 Touring would join it eventually.

There is a possibility that the M5 Touring may get a bigger battery — a 48-volt setup to be exact! If that occurs, its range may even be better than the XM, which already boasts 30 miles before needing the twin turbo to kick in!

Two drivetrains are also possible — rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive — with a “tease” that the integrated application of all wheel drive and suspension systems will be tested!

While it is hoped for, it is still uncertain to say the least if the M5 Touring will come to America. It is most likely being tested around the country roads and motorways near Munich and around Nurburgring Nordschleife.

The engine choice for the Touring happened to be the same one developed for the BMW M1, which is the S38B38 I-6. While the original M1 engine was a 3.5-liter displacement, the larger and heavier M5 Touring needs more power and therefore its engine was increased to its 3.8-liter displacement. The Touring and the E34 M5 Sedan represented the last two vehicles that utilized the S38.

The excitement is building of what’s next as the E61 M5 Touring utilizing BMW’s legendary 5.0 liter V-10, the S85B50, has whetted our appetite for what we hope to be the ultimate uberwagon!

The first photos of the camouflaged prototype has been released, and the excitement is building!

Will the M5 Touring Wagon come with massive power? We can only hope! And will U.S. fans get in on the action? That, too, is to be determined! Lots of possibilities and lots of maybes, but regardless, the news is exciting when it comes to the M5 Touring! Fingers crossed this wagon is America-bound!
