A look inside and out!
Within the X1 M35i are clear touches of M amid its modern design. They are made clear in optional M sport seats with integrated headrests and an illuminated M badge in the upper section of the backrest. There are also seats wrapped stylishly in Veganza, which is vegan leather, and with a red and black combo combined smartly with the traditional M colors. Other red accents are found throughout, including on the shift paddles and for the steering wheel’s 12 o’ clock mark.
Larger and more advanced screens also mark the interior, including a 10.25-inch Digital Instrument Cluster and a 10.7-inch Central Information Display which is presented with touch-centric control. Inside is also an available Live Cockpit system which gets Head-up Display and Video Augmented Reality technology.
Impressive describes the exterior look of the all-new X1 M35i, complete with a quad-tip exhaust, M Kidney Grille, M mirror caps and M rear spoiler. Also available on this compact SUV are 20-inch M wheels, with 19-inch wheels with all-season tires as standard. Power of M
Equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four with 312 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque, and reaching top speeds of 155 mph, power is a given in this new model for 2024. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive are standard, with the M35i gaining a limited-slip differential. Adaptive dampers are offered as standard equipment, and M compound brakes are an option.
This power translates into an acceleration from 0-60 in 5.2 secondds, which may be a conservative estimate in that the 241-hp base X1 achieved a 5.4 second result in testing, with the previous 302-hp X2 M35i reaching that mark in an impressive 4.5 seconds.
Also, thanks to the vehicle’s quad exhaust tips, sound is clear and also contributes to the vehicle’s aggressive and tough appeal.
Tech savvy!
The latest and greatest describe the technology within the M35i, including the iDrive system and BMW’s Curved Display which allows for wireless smartphone connectivity and selectable driving modes. The iDrive system represents an upgrade in the 2024 model year, with this change applying to all X1 models, not just the M35i. It is known to reduce complexity in its use through more shortcuts and better-organized menus.
Safety first!
When it comes to safety features, the M35i is leading the pack! Standard on this model and all one needs when getting behind the wheel, are a number of key features. They include Active Blind Spot Detection, which provides visual cues in the exterior mirror that alert drivers to hazards within the blind spots with steering wheel vibration. There is also Lane Departure Warning, which kicks in with an automated system when the vehicle starts to stray from its lane.
Frontal Collision Warning with City Collision Mitigation offers both visual and acoustic alerts that activate in busy areas, with brakes intervening at speeds up to 35 mph.
