Bring it!

In this first-ever BMW M3 Touring, a new level of performance has undoubtedly been achieved as is the perfect pairing of racing-oriented performance and every day practicality. This model, which is coming soon, boasts a combination of M specific high performance, increased space and comfort as well as intelligent functionality. This first prototype  will stand above and stand out, serving as a benchmark for superior driving dynamics. In this exclusive first look, see the result of perfect pairing. The Touring story starts here….Bring it!

What we know so far!

The look!
The first prototype of the M3 Touring is presented with a 3.0-litre TwinPower turbocharged straight-six engine found in the M3 saloon and M4 coupe. It will feature 480 hp standard and 510hp offered in Competition trim, with these powerful models getting an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive as standard.

This prototype is based on the current M3 sedan featuring updated styling and such pluses as an expansive luggage department. It is chock full of all things M, from appearance to power and everything in between. This prototype also represents, for the first time in its history, BMW’s M range model being complemented by a BMW M3 Touring.

The look of this prototype is bold. It features a mighty kidney grille and quad exhaust set up, widened axles and extra large front air intakes. It boasts a slim roof-mounted spoiler, a chunky black diffuser and four exhaust tailpipes. This is clear M, even in light of the vehicle’s new body design.

Inside, by folding the back seats down, you can enjoy an even larger space. This prototype will also presented with an opening rear window to easily drop in shopping bags.

The speed!
If the M3 Touring is offered in standard non-Competition spec, then it will come with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, with an option to pay more for an eight-speed automatic gearbox. But, if BMW chooses to sell only Competition versions of the new M3 Touring in the UK, then every car will come with an automatic gearbox as standard.

In early test drives at the famed Nurburgring Nordschleife, it is made clear that this is — above all — a BMW M3 and it drives like a BMW M3, starting with the 510 hp motor, the M specific axles and the wide tires. It offers a drive that is not only fun, but epitomizes a true, thoroughbred sports car.

Other facts!

  • It reaches 0-62 mph in just four seconds and will also feature xDrive BMW’s all-wheel-drive. It is unlikely that BMW will offer the M3 Touring with rear-wheel-drive.
  • It is a combination of superior driving and practicability. It is also unique in both its character and dynamics.
  • This is touted as the long-awaited alternative to the Audi RS4 Avant and Mercedes-AMG C63 Estate.
  • This vehicle will be perfect for anyone who craves exhilarating autonomous driving on highways and motorways.
  • This prototype features all the latest technology brought forth from the BMW M3 and M4 lines.
  • A manual gearbox is likely an optional switchable four-wheel drive will be presented.
  • The idea for this vehicle stemmed from engineers putting their heads together a far back as the 1980s. They were excited by the idea of combining the high performance of an M vehicle with the variability of a Touring model.

The finished car will make its public debut later this year and is planned to go on sale before 2023. It will get its first public airing at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June. Stay tuned!!!
