Exterior refresh!
For 2022, the X4 boasts styling changes both at the front and rear, including a new grille design, updated bumpers, headlights and taillights. This vehicle boasts an aluminum mesh variant of BMW’s signature kidney grille that is quite larger for this model. While the grille size increases, the X4 sees a decrease in LED headlights, which become 0.4 inches thinner, as well as a redesigned front bumper featuring vertical air intakes.

At the rear, updates include redesigned full LED taillights, complete with integrated horizontal turn signal bars, vertical air intakes presented in a triangular design and new, sportier exhaust trim. Exterior color palette choices include a wide array of sleek hues, including Brooklyn Grey Metallic, Alpine White, Piemont Red, and more!

All of these changes and upgrades result in a sporty design through and through!

The look/feel inside!
A premium cabin is found within as well as a clean, modern design. A center console sits beneath a very stylish floating touchscreen and the X4’s 35.5 inches of rear legroom is plentiful for passengers. This model overall has 19 cubic feet of cargo capacity with all seats in place and 51 cubic feet with the rear seats lowered.

All versions of the X4 feature an enlarged, 10.25-inch infotainment display, with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster offered as an extra.

The dashboard of the X4 also gets a slight change, with this model also offering bigger air vents and redesigned HVAC controls.

The inside of the X4 also boasts sport seats with pronounced side bolsters as standard. These are covered in the BMW’s luxurious Sense Tec synthetic leather. The X4 also comes available with Vernasca leather in stunning shades of Canberra Beige/black, Tacora Red and Cognac. There are a whopping 11 colors of ambient light as opitonal, which can be set to turn on or off when the doors are unlocked and can also be dimmed at night
Luxury is found here, as well as comfort and style!

Under hood!
A powerful engine is brought forth with a base powertrain of a turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 that makes 242 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque. A turbocharged 3.0-liter I-6 is found in the X4 M40i, which now has the added benefit of 48-volt hybrid tech. Power is maintained at 382 horsepower with torque jumping up to 369 lb-ft. This added hybrid allows the engine of the X4 to be shut off at speeds of up to 99 mph and then start back smoothly.

The base BMW X4 xDrive30i gets its power from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. This results in a sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 6.1 seconds.

For the 2022 X4, variants include the X4 M and the X4 M Competition, with M standing for “more torque.”

Whatever the engine, power is routed through an eight-speed automatic transmission to either the rear or all four wheels. This is done via xDrive all-wheel-drive.

Regardless of your choice, the drive will be exhilarating and one equipped with keen handling and top ride quality.

Technology boost!
Extra safety tech is found in the 2022 X4, including what BMW is terming “Driving Assistance Professional.” This is, in a nutshell, an optional extra that combines active cruise control and active lane keeping to help drivers stay straight and narrow on stretches of freeway. This system works hand in hand with the car’s digital cockpit and its head up display to allow drivers to have the top ability to maintain and be aware of their surroundings. Tech also is geared toward helping drivers make lane changes safely and also avoid potential crashes.

Also standard on the X4 is BMW’s Live Cockpit Professional which features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen display of equal size. Infotainment is updated with BMW’s latest and greatest iDrive 7 multimedia system that comes equipped with enhanced navigation, media content, status displays for the driver-assistance systems offered as well as a 3D view.
