A new look inside and out!
A redesign and refresh, which channel the sports sedans of the past, is presented for the 2022 X3, including a larger kidney grille, thinner, more angular headlights and rearranged taillights. There are also front and rear updated bumpers, new wheel designs and tweaked exhaust tips. Three-dimensional, full LED rear lights come standard on all models. These exterior changes convey more of a “presence” in a vehicle already known for rugged, muscular style. A refreshed exterior also comes with additional colors to choose from.
A spacious and luxurious cabin is found within, providing the utmost comfort for all. Available is a panoramic moonroof that expands the feeling of interior spaciousness, and a standard 3-zone climate control that keeps passengers cozy or cool, depending on the day. Comfort is also found in Standard Sport Seats featuring enhanced new perforated SensaTec upholstery, which is presented in a fresh color palette.
The interior also boasts a 10.3-inch touchscreen which runs BMW’s iDrive 7 infotainment set up and a 5.1-inch screen within the gauge cluster. Reworked dashboard decor is also found within.
Under hood!
Perhaps the most significant change for 2022 is under hood in this new X3, with the X3 M considered the most powerful model in the X3 lineup. Both the all-wheel-drive X3 M40i and the X4 M40i are powered by a fantastic 3.0-liter straight-six and gain a super-quiet starter-generator system and 48-volt hybridization. They come with a rating of 382 hp at 5800 rpm and 369 pound-feet of torque at 1800 rpm. Performance is impeccable in this new X3, with the vehicle launching from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and reaching a top speed of 130 or 155 mph, depending on the tires.

The 2022 X3 is brought forth with BMW’s iDrive interface, which provides all that is needed and expected from a modern luxury car’s infotainment system. A 10.3-inch infotainment display is standard and features in-dash navigation as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An optional 12.3-inch display is also offered. This vehicle features Bluetooth phone connectivity, a WiFi hotspot and one USB port as standard. Those looking for a bit more can take advantage of a second USB port as well as a wireless smartphone charging pad.
Safety first!
The new 2022 X3 comes with an impressive and well-equipped selection of full driver-assistance features, with many of the basics offered as standard. Some of those include standard automated emergency braking with forward-collision warning; standard lane-departure warning and available adaptive cruise control.
This vehicle also comes with a four-year or 50,000-mile basic warranty and three years of complimentary schedule maintenance.
Price point
Even with all of its upgrades and redesign, the 2022 BMW X3’s starting price of $44,695 is just $700 more than last year’s entry-level X3. The X3 M, though, maintains a base price of $70,893. The new X3 is poised to hit the market in August, with the X3 M following in September.

X3 30i Models
This SAV is all things adventure, and features a standard xLine design, freeform exhaust and an inline 4-cylinder Twin Power Turbo engine. Available with xDrive, this vehicle boasts BMW’s all-wheel-drive system, the result of which is improved traction and control.
X3 M40i
This performance-minded machine is presented with 382 horsepower under hood, with BMW M engineering providing enhanced handling and braking. This model also comes with a steering wheel rooted in exclusivity, an Aerodynamic Kit, distinctive M badging and special M mirror caps.
X3 M
This is all power, all the time! Truly the most powerful model in the X3 lineup, the X3 M is brought forth with a redesigned exterior, complete with aerodynamic bumpers, new headlight and taillight designs, a fresh color palette with such unique shades as Frozen Portimao Blue Metallic, and more. A 12.3 inch Central Information Display, M View display mode and a new gearshift design means the top performance on each and every trip.
