Dreams can come true!

For those who thought it might not be possible that this stunning one-off could be made a reality, they just might get their wish! It is probable that BMW will build 50 concept touring coupes, including the Z4 Coupe or what is termed the “Clown Shoe revival.” Yes, you heard correctly — a production run may be on the horizon!

What else we know!

— Although BMW has not yet released how many units, the number 50 has been hinted at. So has the price tag — roughly $250,000 each. Some have indicated interest, according to Adrian van Hooydonk, the head of the BMW design group, so their wish may soon be granted.

— Any production car based on this concept would have a price point significantly less than the limited edition 3.0 CSL.

— Ample horsepower and good handling will be a given!

— Any production version would use the same B58 engine as the standard Z4.

— A bespoke interior, functionality and exclusive styling mark this touring car.

— The Z4 debuted at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy.

— The inspiration for the Z4 Touring Coupe Concept derived mainly from the Z3 M Coupe.

— The Z4 Touring Coupe, although low in volume in terms of numbers to actually be made — will undoubtedly be considered highly exclusive.

— IF the vehicle reaches our shores, big markups are expected.

— The concept could likely get a six-speed manual gearbox.

How it developed!

The underpinnings of this concept were already under way as so many other visionary concepts were already in the works. It came from feedback from the crowd of car enthusiasts who attend Villa d’este those and who understood cars and their design. They wanted their “dream car” to continue to become a reality. The Z4 would undoubtedly accomplish that!

BMW’s designers partnered with the same Turin, Italy-based company that helped make the Garmisch concept car recreation, trusting in their ability to hand build and hand craft complicated shapes, and turn it into a running prototype.

How it’s powered!

This Concept Touring Coupe is powered by an inline-six engine, which makes close to 400 hp, a major upgrade over the European-spec Z4 M40i with a 335 hp.

Also, the M40i, upon which this concept is based, comes exclusively with an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.

What’s the feedback?

Positive feedback abounds for this iconic concept, with people passionate about what this can ultimately be and represent. In fact, few cars fit in better at the Concours than this Z4.

It is important to note that this concept design is not necessarily a recent development, but something that the automaker’s California design studio came up with a while ago while developing the Z4’s look. A model was made some time ago.

Small in production but large exclusivity, the Z4 Touring Concept car just may be a future dream come true!
