The warranty period for your new BMW starts right when you purchase the vehicle and will last for four years — or 50,000 miles, whichever happens first. With any issues for the vehicle, owners are encouraged to make an appointment with an authorized BMW service center.
Warranty up close!
Within your BMW warranty, there are a number of types and specifications. For example, with the warranty, users enjoy No Cost Schedule Maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles and a new Limited Warranty of four years or 50,000 miles. There is also a Certified Pre-Owned Warranty of five years, unlimited miles.
The battery is also covered, with a High-Voltage Lithium-Ion Battery Limited Warranty of eight years or 80,000 miles. It is important to note that this is longer than most manufacturer powertrain warranties. This coverage offers the protection of the batteries within the electric vehicles from defects in material and workmanship. If any issues are discovered with batteries, BMW will repair or replace the faulty components free of charge.
While total battery failure is considered to be an uncommon occurrence, electric car batteries do degrade and lose 5-10 percent of their life in the first five years.
There is also a Corrosion Warranty in which drivers receive a warranty spanning 12 years and unlimited miles.
Extended warranties are also available for those drivers who wish to continue their service coverage beyond the Limited Warranty. In this case, specialists can assist costumers with choosing the coverage option that suits them best. Those choices include Powertrain Protection or Gold and Platinum plans that feature additional mechanical, interior and exterior component coverage.
With an extended warranty, BMW provides protection for up to seven years or 100,000 miles beyond the factory warranty. Also included is valuable roadside assistance, and the assurance that all repairs are performed by BMW certified technicians who use all BMW replacement parts.

Within the extended warranty are Gold and Platinum Plans that provide that extra level of care and protection. The Platinum Plan, which is available for new, used and CPO BMWs, is
considered the highest level of protection. It includes comprehensive coverage for most major components as well as exclusive protection offerings.
With the Gold Plan, which is available for new and used BMWs, comprehensive coverage of many major components of one’s vehicle is presented. That includes the engine, transmission and much more!
The Powertrain Plus Plan for new and used BMWs provides for extensive coverage of many drivetrain components and limited coverage for many other vehicle parts.
